The Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) team at Editas Medicine is seeking a motivated senior research associate to help support the needs of a new class of therapies based on CRISPR-Cas gene editing.

In this role, the candidate will use their experience in NGS technologies (library prep, quality control, sequencing hardware) to drive the successful translation of this technology into the clinic.

They will assist with running existing Illumina and Oxford Nanopore processes as well as help develop new protocols and transition assays into production, as needed.

Experience with automated DNA library prep, amplicon sequencing (target specific primer design, multiplex rhAmpSeq primer design for off target verification), and Oxford Nanopore sequencing (DNA, RNA and plasmid libraries) is desired.

The position requires working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a capacity for creativity and innovation to achieve corporate objectives.

Requirements

Experience with Illumina and Oxford Nanopore library construction, NGS primer design, and lab automation systems is highly desirable, as is programming automation.

Experience operating an Illumina MiSeq and Oxford Nanopore GridIon and interpreting data quality.

Experience transitioning protocols from R&D to production, including protocol development, optimization, scale-up, and process documentation (Benchling eLN, workflow diagrams), is desirable.

The ability to work in a team-oriented, timeline-focused, dynamic environment.

Excellent troubleshooting skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
