JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and collaborative scientist with strong molecular biology skills who is excited to be part the company’s foundational science team to work on groundbreaking programmable next generation genetic medicines. This individual will contribute to high-throughput cloning and mRNA synthesis efforts to support platform improvement, target screening, discovery and development of next-gen smart genetic medicines. This position offers significant growth opportunities in a rapidly growing dynamic startup.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform cloning in low-throughput and 96-well plate formats, including construct assembly, bacterial transformation, and minipreps
  • Contribute to optimization of growth pipelines to improve plasmid yield and quality
  • Assist in mRNA synthesis, purification, and quality assessment
  • Execute molecular biology assays, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA purification and quantification
  • Make detailed observations, analyze, and interpret data in Benchling



REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with 3+ years’ experience or Master’s degree with 1+ years’ industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • Experience with modern cloning methods such as Gibson and Golden Gate Assembly
  • Molecular biology skills, including primer design, nucleic acid extraction, and PCR optimization
  • Familiarity with DNA analysis software like Benchling and SnapGene
  • Attention to detail, critical analysis of data and good troubleshooting ability
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to effectively work as part of a team
  • Desire to work and thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and dynamic startup advancing precision genetic medicines.
