Role Summary/Purpose

The Material & Process (M&P) Engineer serves as the Materials & Process Engineering focal for documentation review, coordination, and management. This includes working with the various internal functional groups (Engineering team, Sourcing/Procurement team, Quality Organization) to support various levels of engineering reviews and documentation changes/updates. The M&P Engineer will work in the Materials and Processing Engineering team, on site at Middle River, supporting document management through MRAS' internal document management system(s). The engineer will serve as the focal for coordinating and managing material and process documentation (specifications, technical publications, and other documents) and supporting engineering change documentation reviews for engineering drawing packages under the guidance of experienced engineers. The candidate will have a strong foundation in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, specifically Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. The engineer demonstrates an ability to work with limited to some supervision, and in collaboration with others, effectively interfacing and integrating their activities within the engineering organization. An ability to establish and manage multiple projects within time constraints is required. The candidate is also responsible for timely identification and communication of project obstacles to engineering technical leads.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serves as the M&P focal for managing engineering specification documentation and internal technical documents/bulletins.
  • Coordinates/leads engineering specification change board meetings under the direction of senior technical engineering leads.
  • Will standardize/update documentation templates for specifications, internal technical documents, and other related forms.
  • Creates engineering change documentation and substantiation, including tracking assigned engineering changes through completion.
  • Collaborates with engineers and others within the business to achieve project objectives.
  • Executes plans to achieve defined project and departmental goals.
  • Effective, timely, and accurate communication to internal customers, supply chain, and external customers.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent field from an accredited university.
  • Technical background in composites and/or other materials-based industry.
  • Working knowledge of engineering control, including configuration management, revision control, and end affect incorporation of engineering changes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • MS office proficiency - near expert level
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail with some direct supervision.
  • US Citizen or permanent green card holder
