About the RoleThe Lead Materials and Process Engineer will serve as the focal point for materials and process engineering in our sustaining business. This includes working with various functional groups to support productivity, cost reduction, and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support projects related to materials and process engineering, including testing and analysis of various material characteristics.
- Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives and ensure effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineering technicians and hourly shop personnel.
- Execute plans to achieve defined project and departmental goals, with a focus on quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Support supplier process/product/capability level reviews and engineering drawing and specification reviews through the configuration control board.
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent field from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in materials and process engineering, with a focus on composites or similar materials-based industries.
- Strong technical background in materials analysis techniques, including microscopy, mechanical testing, and physical property testing.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Aerospace materials processing and testing experience, with a focus on composites or similar materials-based industries.
- Six Sigma training or equivalent experience, with a focus on process improvement and quality management.
