Position Overview:

The Executive Director for Network Infrastructure and Services (NI&S) leads the oversight and daily operations of the organization. NI&S includes the Telecommunications Auxiliary, a significant annual cost-recovery operation, and the Data Center program, responsible for computing and storage resources management along with data center facilities.

  • Manage daily operations of Network Infrastructure and Services organizations.
  • Lead a workforce of over 100 employees and collaborate with the Information Technology leadership team.
  • Provide strategic vision and direction for all NI&S units overseeing financial, operational, and technical aspects.
  • Develop strategic direction, set priorities, and ensure coordination across all units.
  • Ensure activities align with the division of IT and university priorities.
Position Requirements:
  • A master's degree in management, computer science, math, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in network engineering, administration, and security practices.
  • Experience in leading networking, telecommunications, and data center units.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, management systems, and security measures.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead projects, provide analytical insights, and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Support a diverse and inclusive community.

Note: This role is based at the Blacksburg campus with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement.
