Qualifications:

In addition to the basic education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below:

  • To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as analyzing information systems (e.g. networks, security, operating systems) compliance; analyzing and interpreting information security laws, regulations, policies, procedures and guidance; and performing IT security assignments.

or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; degree in an academic discipline described below.


  • Knowledge of IT security protocols, policies, procedures and methods.
  • Ability to develop, implement and/or coordinate activities for the protection and restoration of IT systems services and capabilities.
  • Skill in oral communication
  • Skill in providing guidance for the implementation of IT security policies in the development and operation of network systems.
  • Ability to develop recommendations on information systems security protocols impacting Agency IT policies or programs.
  • Ability to implement IT security training and education programs.
  • Skill in written communication
  • Ability to manage contracts including preparing procurement requests and monitoring technical performance.
