Visiting Professional in Residence, Collaborative Piano
The current appointment is full-time (nine months) to perform as a collaborative pianist for faculty, guest artist, and DMA student recitals and for juries, qualifying exams, voice auditions, and other events in an amount that does not exceed the full-time workload equivalent.
Job Responsibilities:
- Rehearse and perform as collaborative pianist for roughly 15 recitals (faculty, guest artists, DMA students) per semester and juries, qualifying exams, voice auditions, and other events as assigned
- Education Level: Master's
- Specific Degree: Master's Degree in Piano Performance or Collaborative Piano
- Years of experience: 6
- Specific experience: Artist caliber performance and collaborative skills. Six years of collaborative experience in a university setting. Experience with vocal coaching.
The LSU School of Music offers a comprehensive program to nearly 500 music majors. It has 50 full-time faculty, 10 professional staff, and 75 graduate teaching assistants. In addition to the Golden Band from Tigerland and the Turner-Fischer Center for Opera, the School of Music features strong band, orchestra, jazz, vocal, keyboard, and chamber music programs, as well as a robust research component in music education, composition, musicology, and music theory. The School sponsors over 300 recitals, concerts, operas, masterclasses, and lectures each academic year. Degrees offered include the Ph.D. (with concentrations in composition, experimental music and digital media, music education, musicology, and music theory), DMA (concentrations in music performance, collaborative piano, and choral, orchestral, and wind conducting,), MM, BM, BME, and BA (Liberal Arts). LSU also has an innovative and collaborative media arts community; The Center for Computation & Technology (CCT) includes Experimental Music & Digital Media, Digital Media Arts & Engineering, and Digital Arts, offering opportunities to compose for video games, digital animations, and film.
LSU has an enrollment of over 33,000 students. Baton Rouge supports a thriving performing arts scene, including the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, several dance companies, various eclectic concert series, and a professional theatre company.
