Description

POSITIONSUMMARY:  The Desktop Support Technician I isresponsible for the day-to-day operational support of the end usercommunity through the installation, configuration, upgrade, andmaintenance of workstation and peripheral equipment. This includesthe resolution of problems reported by the Information SystemsService Desk and the implementation of new functionality. Documentation and adherence to policies, procedures and standardsof the organization is an important part of this position. The Desktop Support Technician I is responsible for delivering highquality, cost effective solutions to all levels of users. This includes support for both the technology and processes. The Desktop Support Technician I is also responsible for supportingthe business goals and objectives for the Department, theInformation Services Organization, and the organization as awhole.



Requirements

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:  High Schooldegree or equivalent required. Post high school Information Systemscourse work preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: ITbased certification preferred. A Valid New Mexico Driver’s Licenserequired.

SKILLS:

  • Demonstratedcustomer service skills
  • Basic knowledge ofdesktop operating systems and related software required
  • Ability to maintain good customer relations with theability to explain complex solutions and problems to users(regardless of their technical ability)
  • Excellent problem solving and communicationskills
  • Good technical writing anddocumentation skills.

EXPERIENCE:  One-yearexperience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting andsupport of Personal Computers preferred.

NATURE OFSUPERVISION:

-Responsible to: Manager,Desktop Support Services

ENVIRONMENT:

- Bloodbornepathogens-A

General officesetting with exposure to computer room environment. Exposure topatient care and ancillary biohazards. Extended video displayexposure and use of keyboard.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to lift and transfer objects typically notin excess of 50 lbs. May be required to reach objects typically notin excess of 5 lbs. up to 8 ft. above the floor with the assistanceof a step stool. Extended use of video display terminal andkeyboard utilizing sound ergonomic principles.
