Senior Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations, CTY

Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a remote work arrangement. The manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.
Founded in 1979, the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) is a center for innovation dedicated to advancing the field of gifted education through research on testing, programs, and other supports for advanced learners. On the premise that advanced learners come from every community and every demographic, we aim to understand and inform how these students need to be nurtured to achieve their full potential as learners and global citizens. CTY also runs in-person and online academic programs for bright learners in order to cultivate a community of advanced learners and connect students in and outside the classroom.
The Senior Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of leadership annual donors for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY). The purpose of these activities is drive revenue to CTY's operating budget on an annual basis and to help ensure a strong pipeline of future major gift donors.
Key responsibilities:
Fundraising (70%)
- Portfolio management and growth.
- Develop a strategy to grow giving to CTY and increase the number of constituents who donate to CTY year over year at the leadership annual giving level.
- Develop, maintain, and drive the leadership annual giving program.
- Manage a portfolio of 150 leadership annual giving prospects.
- Achieve individual work plan goals as established in conjunction with the Sr. Director for Development and Alumni Relations.
- Raise approximately $500,000 annually from Prospect Portfolio
- Build strategic relationship with the Office of Annual Giving
- Collaborate with Senior Director when potential Major Gift Prospects are identified
- Visit goal of 50 - 75 prospects annually
Constituent Engagement (30%)
- Collaborate with the CTY Constituent Engagement team in maximizing coverage of the Annual Giving prospect pool.
- Develop annual and multi-year strategic plans create appropriate fundraising goals, timetables, gift tables, and participation targets.
- Schedule and arrange summer site visits and/or other engagement opportunities with prospective and current donors.
- Participate and planning of constituent engagement events
- Work directly with the Senior Director, Executive Director, and the Chair of the CTY Advisory Council on the successful conception, design, and execution of quarterly Advisory Council meetings.
- Work closely with the volunteer leadership of the advisory council to ensure that the group is engaged in meaningful work that will advance the mission of CTY.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Five years professional related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience in volunteer management or donor relations preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively;
- Ability to make independent decisions, and the discernment to know when independence is warranted
- Ability to work as part of an effective team with a results-oriented approach.
- Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new development computer software systems.
- May include hours outside of normal working hours and on the weekend.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
