Job Description

The Global Parts Pricing team is hiring a Systems Application Lead to help plan and execute the modernization of our pricing and sales variance systems in support of profitable services growth. This position owns accountability for the future Parts Pricing and Sales Variance process and system documentation, training, and continuous improvement planning and execution. In collaboration with Caterpillar IT, you will lead the development of requirements documentation, provide pricing or sales variance process expertise and leadership to solve business challenges and to complete application development or enhancements on time and on budget.

This role also requires collaboration with various partners such as product pricing, pricing solutions, business partners, IT Architects, and development teams. This position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead the documentation, training, and continuous improvement of the Global Parts Pricing and Sales Variance application systems.
  • Collaborate with Caterpillar IT and/or 3rd Party Vendors in developing, coding and testing computer programs for multiple projects.
  • Participate in preparing technical and procedural documentation required in application system development.
  • Create detailed flowcharts to show processing logic for application programs.
  • Provide detailed requirements to support the development of solutions for programming system operations, including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs.
  • Provide application and business process support and training to end users of software programs.
Skills need to be successful in this role:
  • Core Application Systems: Knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
  • Implementation: Knowledge of how to run applications for organizations; ability to implement application software within an organization and help end-users perform specific tasks (ex: accounting or graphic design).
  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
  • System and Technology Integration: Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.
  • System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Advanced degree highly preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in leading processes or application development
  • Experience working in a global team and working across a matrixed organization
  • Knowledge of aftermarket, pricing function and software & system development
  • Experience in system deployment, user adoption and continuous improvement
  • Ability to deal with sensitive & critical issues, and communicate with technical & business audiences
Additional Information:
  • Hybrid work schedule with 3 days located in the Peoria LC Office with relocation assistance available to those looking to relocate to Peoria.
  • Limited travel required (up to 10% of working time)
