College Success Coach

The College Success Coach is responsible for providing a broad range of services and support to students who are enrolled at Portland Community College within the Future Connect program. The College Success Coach provides academic and career advising, teaches required college success courses, encourages consistent attendance, assists with FAFSA/ORSAA completion, and facilitates student connections to community resources. Coaches work with students throughout their time at PCC to help them persist in their college and career goals. This College Success Coach works at the Rock Creek campus primarily with students coming from high schools in Washington County and collaborates with other coaches, advisors and faculty within the college. This position will be a minimum 80% on campus work schedule and will work with a team of coaches to coordinate best services for students at the Rock Creek Campus. - Managing a caseload of students or clients in support of their educational goals (includes experience building a detailed academic plan and experience connecting clients to appropriate support agencies).

- Teaching, curriculum development, orientations, recruitment, or workshops in formal or informal settings.
- Working with at-risk students or clients.
- Collaborating across teams.
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
- Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, Counseling, or related field.
- Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated experience working in an educational or social service environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse populations.
- Experience working with students or clients in advising and developing goals.
- Experience assessing student needs and coordinating educational and community based services.
- Experience managing caseload and case files. Fluent in Spanish
- One year academic advising in a college setting.
- Demonstrated experience working with first-generation college students.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of local programs working on transitioning students to college
- Knowledge of degree & certificate requirements
- Knowledge of FAFSA (Free Application for Financial Aid) and ORSAA (Oregon Student Aid Application) and the finances of college.
PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)
- Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of services)
- 1 day of sick leave per month- 12 holidays
- 3 additional personal leave days per year
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Evening hours are required. Occasional weekend hours may be required.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), you may view Portland Community College’s (PCC) most recent Annual Security Report (ASR) on the Department of Public Safety website. The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.
Special Conditions for this position:
This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College’s Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTrac™) located on the Department of Public Safety’s Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
