Description

The Division of Psychology and Counseling at Governors State University in University Park, IL, United States, invites candidates to apply for a Lecturer (Unit B) position in our Counseling program to begin August 2024 and ending August 2025. This is a temporary full-time, (1 to 2 year) teaching position for the Master of Arts in Counseling programs. Additionally, the successful candidate will also have some teaching responsibilities in the Interdisciplinary Leadership (INLD) Doctorate Program. Interested candidates must have 1) passion for training culturally competent professionals in providing mental health services; 2) potential for effective teaching; and 3) strong communication skills. The essential duties include:
Teach graduate courses on the University Park campus.Supervise students enrolled in practicum and internship coursesCollaborate with faculty in the counseling and INLD programs
Master of Arts in Counseling ProgramThe GSU Master of Arts in Counseling program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The Master of Arts in Counseling program offers three sequences, which include Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC); Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling (MCFC); or School Counseling (SC). The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has approved the School Counseling sequence as leading to the Educator License with an endorsement in School Counseling.
Interdisciplinary Leadership (INLD) Doctorate ProgramThe INLD program prepares advanced leaders to meet real-world problems and issues with sophisticated, multi-dimensional solutions. Our doctorate in education (Ed.D.) is designed for working professionals who are looking to positively impact the communities in which they serve. The program offers three different concentrations: Higher Education Administration, Nonprofit/Social Entrepreneurship, and Superintendent (PK-21).
