The Manager of University Recruitment and Development will lead a team that develops and manages a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate level university recruitment program to attract and develop top talent from colleges and universities. This role will build relationships with academic institutions, drive recruitment efforts, and implement rotational development programs to support the growth and success of early and mid-career professionals within the organization supplying the front-end of BASFs leadership and expert pipeline. This role requires strong partnership with senior leadership (North America Executive Committee and North American Leadership Team) to advise on key strategic initiatives and ensure alignment to meet business goals.  

 

This hybrid role is based out of BASF Headquarters in Florham Park, New Jersey and reports into the Manager, Talent Acquisition & Attraction.

Developing strategy and leading the team in:

  • Recruitment Strategy: Collaborating with senior executives and program steering committees to develop a university recruitment strategy aligned with business goals, talent needs and commitment to Diversity & Inclusion. Forecasting/workforce analysis to ensure a balanced approach to demand and supply.  Identify target schools, programs, conferences and other key alliances to focus recruitment efforts. 
  • University Relations: Developing and maintaining relationships with key college and university contacts, including career services and student organizations. Participating in career fairs, information sessions, and campus events to promote the organization as an employer of choice. Developing and implementing strategies to enhance the organization's brand and reputation on campuses. Incorporating marketing materials, social media campaigns, and employer branding initiatives to attract top talent. 
  • 3. Campus and Diversity Conference Recruitment: Planning and executing recruitment activities, including conducting interviews and managing the selection process. Ensuring a positive candidate experience and providing timely communication and feedback. 
  • Rotational Programs: Overseeing multiple early and mid-career rotational development programs to provide participants with meaningful work experiences and exposure to various functions within the organization. Collaborating with assignment managers to identify opportunities, ensuring a structured and impactful experience to enhance the learning and growth opportunities for program participants. Collaborating with global counterparts in Europe, Asia and South America to secure international rotations and share best practices. Designing and implementing alumni retention strategy to continue to engage program alumni post program graduation.
  • Performance Evaluation: Establishing performance metrics and conducting regular evaluations to assess the effectiveness and impact of the university recruitment and development programs. Implementing improvements and adjustments based on feedback and data analysis. Closely managing 20M annual budget. Providing insights to senior leadership regarding the effectiveness and return on investment of university recruitment and development initiatives. 
  • Leadership:  Setting the strategic vision and focus for the University Recruiting and Development Team. Training, developing, mentoring and supervising a team of Program Managers, Recruiters, and Coordinators for nine rotational programs.

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, related field or equivalent years of experience. 
  • Proven experience in university recruitment, talent acquisition, or related roles. 
  • Strong knowledge of university recruitment strategies, best practices, and current trends. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with university partners and engage with candidates. 
  • Ability to design and execute recruitment and development programs that attract and retain top talent. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple recruitment cycles and program initiatives simultaneously. 
  • Experience with performance evaluation and metrics tracking. 
  • Familiarity with rotational program design and management. 
  • Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in recruitment and development. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools to generate insights and recommendations. 
  • Professional certifications in HR or related field (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
