Job Title: Dean of University Libraries

The University of Maryland, College Park, is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of University Libraries. As a key member of the university's senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision for the University Libraries, ensuring that they remain a hub of academic excellence and innovation.

The Dean will provide leadership to a team of librarians, staff, and faculty, fostering a culture of collaboration, diversity, and inclusion. They will be responsible for managing the library's budget, overseeing the development of new programs and services, and promoting the library's role in advancing the university's research and teaching mission.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leadership, a deep understanding of the academic library landscape, and a passion for innovation and collaboration. They will be able to build strong relationships with faculty, students, and staff, and will be committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of library operations.

The University of Maryland is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) and is committed to attracting and retaining outstanding faculty and staff. The successful candidate will be eligible for tenure as a Professor in an academic unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the University Libraries
  • Provide leadership to a team of librarians, staff, and faculty
  • Manage the library's budget and oversee the development of new programs and services
  • Promote the library's role in advancing the university's research and teaching mission
  • Build strong relationships with faculty, students, and staff

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent
  • Significant experience in a complex research library environment
  • Proven track record of leadership and innovation
  • Strong understanding of the academic library landscape
  • Ability to build strong relationships with faculty, students, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $224,645 - $280,806. The University of Maryland offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
