The Manager, Events & Special Projects is a project management function, responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of Chicago Red Stars cross-functional initiatives. Reporting to the Sr. Brand Manager, this person is responsible for coordinating efforts of the Chicago Red Stars staff from goal setting, concept development, and execution, through evaluation of Red Stars projects. This individual will oversee all aspects of delivery for a range of Chicago Red Stars elevated events such as match theme nights, cross-functional platform development, integrated marketing campaigns, and large-scale initiatives designed to grow the fan base, generate participation, and inspire affinity for the brand. Primary Responsibilities
  • Own the project brief â source key inputs from internal and external stakeholders and distill necessary information clearly and concisely within a project brief. 
  • Help set project goals and objectives in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Facilitate ideation and brainstorming sessions that align thematics, strategies, and tactics with project goals.
  • Articulate concept plans and develop materials needed to communicate the plan with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create timelines and workback schedules in Asana that ensure a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities across the organization and assist in the delivery of projects on time and on budget. 
  • Manage project teams including regular check-ins and status meetings with clear agendas, action items, and owners, and manage communication among internal stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Help staff troubleshoot key obstacles and identify opportunities for efficiencies and overall optimization. 
  • Monitor and assess performance, analyze initiative effectiveness against KPIs, capture success accelerators and/or inhibitors
  • Conduct review process and proper close out at the conclusion of each project or event, to ensure and manage necessary document retention and organization of project details.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience in marketing, sports, or related fields. 
  • A background in, and passion for, soccer, sports, and/or entertainment is a plus.
  • Strong project management, meeting management, multitasking, and organizational skills are a must.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana.
  • Experience partnering with creative, production, and events staff.
  • Goal-oriented and comfortable utilizing data to inform decisions and actions.
  • Strong relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. 
  • Skill in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 
  • Skills in PhotoShop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign are a plus.
  • Resourceful, with a test-and-learn mentality.
  • Communicates quickly and efficiently to keep projects on track. 
  • Personal accountability and ownership.
  • Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends & holidays. The person in this role will be expected to attend home matches and other Red Stars events.
