REQUISITION SUMMARY

Do you get excited about the opportunity to define PACCAR’s future Powertrain roadmap? PACCAR is looking for a high-voltage architect for our next-generation powertrain configurations role.  The ideal candidate will own extensive knowledge of powertrain components (high voltage components and hydrogen technology) and has a strategic mindset to bring these components together in an optimal configuration to serve PACCAR’s world-class vehicles with nameplates Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF. The successful candidate will have the ability to integrate the whole powertrain configuration seamlessly into the full logistic ecosystem, offering customers innovative (connected) services and a best-in-class charging/fueling experience.

This position is located at PACCAR’s Lewisville, Texas office near Dallas.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with PACCAR divisions for collecting vehicle powertrain requirements (i.e. technical requirements and regulatory requirements).
  • Interact with PACCAR divisions for understanding customer requirements and link to collecting customer field data.
  • Translate requirements and powertrain data into target setting for future powertrain configurations.
  • Be the architect for new powertrain topologies and high voltage architectures, including specification of boundary diagrams, hardware interfaces, and mappings of top-level requirements into specifications at the component level.
  • Translate powertrain requirements into mathematical objective functions and use these functions to analyze various powertrain configurations and high voltage architectures, and decompose requirements into targets for individual sub-components.
  • Development and maintenance of PACCAR Powertrain zero emission technology roadmap.
  • Maintain relationships with external partners (suppliers, research & educational institutes) for scouting new technologies, leverage knowledge, and keep PACCAR abreast of new technology developments.
  • Initiate and develop new Advanced Technology projects by building consortia and writing proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Controls, or Systems Engineering. Master of Science in related field a plus.
  • Strong track record in integrating high-voltage powertrain components in automotive applications (high-voltage electrical integration as well as functional integration).
  • Experience in defining automotive high-voltage architectures is required.
  • Proven knowledge in system modeling and describing key characteristics of powertrain components such as performance, efficiency, and lifetime degradation.
  • Mathematical skills in optimization theory are preferred.
