Responsibilities

What will you do?

An intern will work with project teams to support, develop and utilize actuarial models. Professional growth will come through analysis of healthcare cost and utilization data, completing actuarial calculations, and implementing software solutions. The 2025 Spring Internship program will run from January 21 - June 6.
  • Learn Wakely products, tools, and services;
  • Analyze irregular data trends to seek new business;
  • Attain knowledge of Wakely's client service standards specific to each client;
  • Participate in internal/external client meetings (immediately);
  • Understand the fundamentals of potential compliance risk;
  • Document and complete assigned tasks within the project timeline;
  • Learn to identify and communicate issues affecting a project plan;
  • Continue exam progression;
  • Develop technical skills - Excel, SQL, SAS, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Participate in research, core materials, reference items, and training programs.
  • Work with dedicated, enthusiastic project teams that will help you grow your technical and professional skills.

Wakely Consulting Group is a health care actuarial consulting firm serving nationwide health plans, insurance companies, government regulators, employers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders in health care, managed care, and health care reform marketplaces. Wakely Consulting Group assists clients with product pricing/premium development, feasibility studies, predictive modeling, actuarial certifications and filings, operational analysis, compliance, and other business financial and management aspects. Qualifications

What you will need:
  • 1+ Exams passed
  • Working towards a Bachelor's in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
  • Knowledge or training in computer programming language
  • Strong organizational skills
  • GPA - 3.25+
