The Personal Lines Product Manager is fully responsible for the P&L, product development, and pricing for Allied Trust’s homeowners, dwelling, and related product lines. This role aims to drive company revenue while achieving profit and expense objectives. The Product Manager will be hands-on, directly creating and implementing new products and making necessary changes to existing products. This individual works closely with other functional areas - Underwriting, Operations, Actuarial, Marketing, and Claims - to identify opportunities and needs related to product performance. The Product Manager, operating within the parameters set by the Vice President of Product Management, will lead the implementation of strategies and actions to ensure product profitability, competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for achieving growth, profit, and expense objectives. Initiates corrective actions when related metrics or data show adverse trends by coordinating efforts with other functional areas.
  • Develops, implements, and revises a detailed business plan for all personal lines products, including written premium goals, target and expected loss ratios, product-specific expense budgets, geographic capacity dispersion, distribution strategies, and long-term strategic development plans.
  • Manages regulatory actions in states where Allied Trust operates, and initiates necessary revisions, including any related modifications in underwriting and processing.
  • Provides direction to the marketing department for gathering competitive information and maintains current data on key competitors. Initiates periodic analyses of competitors’ forms, rates, and rules to ensure growth and profit objectives are met.
  • Collaborates with the marketing department to identify profitable areas and products within the Allied Trust operating territory.
  • Provides technical input and support for the development of promotional materials, field communication bulletins, internal communications, and state rate/rule form filings.


Skills and Competencies:

  • 7+ years of Personal Lines experience creating and managing products for home insurance or a combination of auto and home.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical knowledge and experience required to understand and apply pricing and ratemaking concepts including loss development, IBNR, and credibility factors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the organization to identify and solve performance problems.
  • Ability to prioritize activities and utilize resources cost-effectively to maximize profitability.
  • Takes a leadership role in handling broad-based, strategically important issues.
  • Demonstrates effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and hands-on experience.
