Job Summary

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a 3D model must be worth a thousand pictures. With this in mind, ANSYS, Inc. is seeking a talented web developer to enhance our 3D viewer web component. This component is essential for enabling our customers to gain valuable insights from their models. Your work will be integral to multiple products, allowing you to impact an ever-growing community of innovative engineers and scientists. 

  

Job Responsibilites

  • Maintains and expands a web component for 3D rendering of engineering data. 

  • Develops new UI features and improves existing ones to enhance user experience. 

  • Ensures seamless integration between the web component and the 3D rendering engine. 

  • Collaborates with other teams to ensure smooth integration. 

  • Leads planning, architecture, or research at a project level. 

  • Coordinates product design and development activities requiring extensive analysis in areas such as user experience, software design and solver research. 

  • Develops and employs best practices and maintains them through technical reviews and mentoring. 

  • Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support across multiple products.  

  • Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions, collaborating with the QA/support team. 

  • May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions. 

  • Operates without direct supervision and may function as a team leader, project manager, or software architect. 

  • May be responsible for line management of a small technical team but primary duties are of an individual technical nature. 

  

Minimum Qualifications

  

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 8 years’ experience, MS with 6 years’ experience, or PhD with 4 years’ experience 

  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript 

  • Strong understanding of HTML5 and CSS3 

  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Angular) 

  • Familiarity with the W3C Web Components specifications and best practices for building interoperable and reusable components 

  • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for web applications 

  • Experience with graphics, preferably 3D mesh-based visualization and computational mathematics 

  • Proven track record of crafting robust and efficient code 

  • Experience with version control systems and Agile development methodologies 

  

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

  

  • Experience with WebGL or Three.js for 3D rendering 

  • Familiarity with rendering engines like pyvista or similar framework 

  • Familiarity with VTK rendering technologies (VTK.js, VTK.WASM) 

  • Familiarity with 3D model formats (e.g., glTF, OBJ, STL, USD) 

  • Previous experience with data visualization or scientific computing applications 

  • Previous experience with working with remote teams
