Develop and implement strategies for a comprehensive Annual Giving Program at Mercy Housing, may include annual campaigns, mid-level gift programs, major gifts, board giving, and workplace and employee giving efforts. Support regional philanthropy including corporate and foundation relations, grants, marketing, and special events. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with regional and national colleagues to assure alignment. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop annual giving strategies with a focus on significantly growing individual gifts
  • Work alongside other Philanthropy staff to submit grant proposals, funder reports, and track grant spending
  • Perform detailed research on foundation, corporate and government grant funding opportunities
  • Set annual goals and benchmarks for annual giving program.
  • Implement a multi-channel integrated annual giving fundraising plan that includes direct mail, email, mobile, website, phone, and social media solicitation tactics.
  • Manage and carry out strategies to upgrade and/or retain prospects and identify and refer major gift prospects.
  • Evaluate program results and determine strategies for the future. 
  • May maintain a moves-management calendar to help support various staff and volunteer solicitors in their major gift and board recruitment efforts.
  • Support in planning and executing fundraising and other events.
  • Assist with volunteer opportunities, as applicable.
  • Support other projects as needed.

      Minimum Qualifications of Position

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years experience in annual giving for a nonprofit organization.
Experience with annual giving software systems.

 Preferred Qualifications of Position

Documented success in managing annual giving programs and successful solicitation of prospects.

 Knowledge and Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write persuasive and engaging text for printed appeal letters, email appeals, social media, and newsletters. Knowledge and passion of fundraising and development principles, methods and best practices. Work collaboratively and successfully as a member of a team as well as independently. Possess good problem-solving skills, must be detail oriented with excellent follow-through.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Physical: Must be able to push/pull object less than 30 pounds, walk, climb stairs and enter/exit buildings that are under construction, occasionally, without normal ingress/egress available.

Sensory: Ability to read fine print on documents.  Able to speak clearly and make self-understood, while also understanding others using the English language.

Cognitive: Ability to understand and relate to concepts behind specific ideas and remember multiple tasks/assignments given to others over a period of days.  Able to concentrate on moderate detail in both office and field with moderate interruption. Able to attend task/function for more than 60 minutes at a time.

Environment:  Exposure to different climates.  Exposure to dust, dirt, air particles, and hazardous materials common to residential construction sites.

Equipment: Ability to properly operate computers & telephone.
