Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Duties include but are not limited to:
Provides guidance and support to the nurse practitioners assigned to Surgical Service in their respective areas of expertise. This would include a potential collaborative relationship with any nurse practitioner assigned to the Otolaryngology Service.
Participates in various facility programs designed to enhance and improve the delivery of patient care services, such as Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, as assigned by Chief, Surgical Service.
Provides quality patient-centered care to both inpatients and outpatients for adults (aged 18 and up) as assigned by Chief, Surgical Service or Deputy Chief Surgical Service.
Demonstrate sound decision-making skills, both clinical and administrative, which bring credit to the professional and serve to enhance the distinctive and contributory role of physicians.
Works without direct supervision but is administratively and clinically responsible to the Chief, Surgical Service or Deputy Chief, Surgical Service.
Supports the medical Center-wide research mission.
Assists in conducting studies regarding treatment modalities, outcomes, and other aspects of patient care when appropriate.
Involved in scholarly activity such as peer-reviewed publication, educational or research presentations, mentoring of residents or fellows, and/or national professional organizations.
Assists in the development and implementation of education and training programs for medical students and fellows and residents, rotating through Medical Service accountable Clinical Services.
Participates in grading sessions for medical students and GME trainees assigned to their services.
Participates in the formal education of the residents, fellows, and medical students by presenting teaching rounds, lectures, conferences, etc.
Includes patient/family/significant other/health care provider in establishing realistic, measurable goals related to health education and treatment plan and in planning care on a clinical assists staff in the process of mutual goal setting.
Exhibits leadership in initiating changes in patient care programs based on current concepts and findings from research studies. Keep informed of developments in the management and treatment of diseases and illnesses through continuing medical education, both formal and informal.
