Position Description:

The Supervisor, Early Childhood Education will perform the duties of the Early Childhood Teacher I in their own classroom, including planning and child supervision, care, and education. In addition, the Supervisor, Early Childhood Education will supervise and provide mentorship to assigned teaching staff in other classrooms, contribute to our Reggio-inspired program and curriculum development, conduct weekly and monthly meetings with assigned mentees, and contribute to monthly whole-staff meetings. This position is responsible for communication with families and staff in the form of daily face-to-face conversations, parent/teacher meetings, and monthly newsletters.

This position is responsible to apply the guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and to conduct classroom self-assessment and improvement procedures using the Infant/Toddler or Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales.

This role must have strong knowledge of Reggio-inspired practices, time management, quality early childhood teaching practices, and staff supervision skills.

Kentucky State Child licensing standards require all new staff to complete 6 hours of childcare orientation within the first 90 days of employment. All staff must complete a minimum of 15 hours of state approved training each year before hire date anniversary and maintain current TB test.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform all Early Childhood Teacher I duties: Early Childhood best practices through Reggio Emilia approach, model & implement ELC policies and procedures, and assure safety, health, and development of young children. Maintain ongoing documentation of individual student progress and keep regular communication with families including Parent/teach conferences. Supervise classroom Assistant Facilitators.

Supervise and mentor Early Childhood Teacher I through individual modeling and group trainings, demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor in daily interactions.

Provide support and supervision for curriculum development (following State and NAEYC standards), child assessment, conflict resolution, social-economic development, and the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy to Lead Facilitators.

Conduct monthly classroom reviews using the NAEYC observation tool and safety & hazard checks for assigned classrooms and implement corrective actions as needed. Coordinate twice-yearly completion of ITERS/ECERS in assigned classrooms, work with Early Childhood Teachers to create written improvement plan for each room and address identified needs.

Collect, review and provide feedback for weekly lesson plans and monthly newsletters to Lead Facilitators in each classroom. Ensure that all Early Childhood Teachers submit lessons plans and newsletters in a timely manner.

Facilitate weekly meetings with Early Childhood Teachers in each classroom to discuss concerns and work with the Director to provide and implement plans for improvement.

Provide individualized information for mid-year and annual staff performance evaluations.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education highly preferred.
Completion of 15 hours of creditable Early Childhood Training per year.
Knowledge of Kentucky State Early Childhood Standards and Reggio Emilia inspired curriculum is preferred.
