The Role

This role is for a Database Administrator managing Microsoft SQL Databases and requires hands on MSSQL management, maintenance, performance tuning, and working closely with infrastructure and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent knowledge and experience of database concepts
  • 7+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
  • Expert level skills in SQL Development with ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, constraints)
  • Expert knowledge in creating complex SQL queries, performance tuning and optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Expert knowledge of indexes, index management and statistics
  • Proficient with Query Store or equivalent tools
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, blocking and deadlocking, performance, connectivity, and security issues
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related I/O, memory, disk space, CPU, and other resource issues
  • Understanding of monitoring concepts and tooling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools
  • PowerShell scripting skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Monitor database, identify bottlenecks and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal performance
  • Develop and implement stored producers and functions
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize SQL queries, database code, and stored procedures
  • Perform database design, data modeling and schema management to support application requirements and performance goals
  • Identify, design, and develop data archiving strategies
  • Develop and/or publish key performance metrics to track data archiving progress of activate initiatives
  • Assist in educating developers on the finer points of database development
  • Familiar with programming languages like SSIS, C# or other object-oriented languages, Powershell, Python, SQL, and NoSQL databases

Pay range: $120,000 to $150,000. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operations business needs.

Depending on the position, compensation may also include commission, bonuses, etc. Potential for bonuses is based on company performance and potential for merit increases is based on performance.
