Sutter Medical Group (SMG) is seeking a Board-Certified (BC) Physician or Clinician for the role of Chief Operations Executive (COE) in Sacramento, California.

The COE will have complete operational oversight of SMG operational leaders. Position will coordinate operational processes based on systematic projects that require operational oversight. Position will have management oversight of the Division Vice President (DVP) leaders, who have operational responsibilities over specific geographic areas within SMG. The COE will have full oversight of annual budget process, including partnership with Foundation operational leaders and direct reports. Position will represent SMG at the system level for operational teams/projects/implementation. Responsible for significant coaching, nurturing, and developing leaders within their structure.

This is a 0.8 FTE leadership position, with a portion of time devoted to clinical activity required (0.1-0.2 clinical).

Position Requirements:

Must be a Physician, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Nurse Practitioner and successfully become licensed to practice in CaliforniaFive years’ senior leadership experience in healthcare, with an emphasis on medical group leadership requiredGraduate degree, such MHA or MBA, preferred (or equivalent experience)Medical Group Information:

Duties

Operational Leadership:Implement strategies and plans for the clinical departments in alignment with company standards for excellent service and growth including space planning.Responsibility for budgeting and resource allocation to optimize operational effectiveness including space optimization and process improvements.Actively participates in SMG’s annual Talent Review and Succession process and commits to the identification, coaching, education, support, and development of DVPs/CTLs whose behavior and actions are aligned with our SMG compact and committed to serving and contributing to the success of SMG with ultimate goal of caring for our patients first and our people always.Clinical Oversight:Plan and oversee all leaders (DVPs) who manage patient care and administrative operations and programs.Strengthen recruitment and onboarding of clinicians to ensure departments are adequately staffed.Coordinate and supervise staff, providing constructive feedback and mentoring.Quality Assurance and Compliance:Monitor compliance with legal guidelines, internal policies, and quality standards.Partner with Human Resources when appropriate and evaluate performance and implement necessary disciplinary actions when required.Ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards within the clinical structure.Continuous Improvement:Review pertinent data and trends to inform and develop improvement effortsCollaborate with stakeholders to improve processes and outcomes.Relationship Building:Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Communicate effectively with clinical teams, administrative staff, and leadership.Skills Required
