The Opportunity
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) acts as the principal executive for KSAE.
KSAE supports local associations in their mission to enhance the well-being of their members and the communities they serve.
The CEO is tasked with providing strategic guidance and recommendations to the Board of Directors to fulfill its mission, execute policies established by the Board, and manage the financial, programmatic, and administrative functions of the organization.
KSAE is seeking:
A Dynamic Advocate
A proficient communicator who can effectively represent KSAE's mission, objectives, and services to its members, staff, and potential partners.
The CEO will possess political acumen, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of governance and policy-making processes, thriving in the external aspects of the role.
A Visionary Leader
The ideal candidate will be inspiring, intellectually curious, and engaged, with a strong capacity to lead through influence, think strategically, and consistently evaluate the organization's efforts to enhance programs, services, and advocacy.
The CEO will drive the implementation of KSAE's long-term vision through strategic planning, collaborating with the Board to shape the organization's future direction through innovative and bold thinking.
This leader will excel in planning and execution, ensuring that daily operations align with strategic objectives while remaining adaptable and innovative in response to emerging challenges.
This individual will have a proven track record of leading an organization, synthesizing diverse viewpoints and interests of stakeholders, and evolving a clear vision and strategy for KSAE's growth and impact.
Advocacy
Build effective relationships with key decision-makers, including legislators, lobbyists, and allied organizations, to advance KSAE's mission.
The CEO must demonstrate a history of fostering support and influence with critical stakeholders and policymakers, employing a diplomatic approach.
The CEO will serve as a liaison to allied organizations at various levels, working to build consensus among members and achieve shared priorities.
Operations
The CEO will oversee financial management, including budgeting and financial controls.
They will collaborate with the Board to develop revenue models that align with programmatic goals, ensuring the organization's financial sustainability.
The CEO will also ensure that Board meetings and committees operate effectively, keeping the Board informed about the organization's status.
Qualification Requirements
The following qualifications are essential for this role:
- Full-time, in-person office setting.
- Frequent regional travel may be required.
- Standard workweeks with potential evening and weekend commitments.
Education and Experience
A Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of five years of leadership experience in a complex organization.
Experience in advocacy, strategic planning, personnel management, financial planning, and budget oversight is crucial.
Proven success in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with influential individuals and organizations is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
Understanding of fiscal and organizational management principles, public policy practices, and contract negotiation.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating transparency and integrity with stakeholders.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to analyze problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions, exercising independent judgment in developing and evaluating plans.
