Summary

This position is located in the Department of Technology Services, Information Technology Security Office (ITSO).



Duties

This position is located within the IT Security Office (ITSO) and will be responsible for providing IT security specific strategic communications, policy and standards development, knowledge management, program management and coordination efforts across the federal judiciary. The incumbent is responsible for managing and integrating the various security projects, contracts, and lines of effort within ITSO. This includes providing guidance and direction to a team of security practitioners. The incumbents would perform multiple and varying assignments under the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer.

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Planning, programming, and executing the ITSO strategic communications plan integrating judiciary specific security data, lessons learned, research findings, and cultural considerations to effectively support ITSO operational efforts and strategic objectives.
  2. Leading and managing a team of security professionals and providing effective communications, knowledge management, and security awareness support to ITSO teams and judiciary stakeholders.
  3. Managing the research and development of relevant information products to support communication goals and objectives. Ensuring the information is aligned with ITSO-defined security best practices, sanitized to protect privacy, and integrates disparate data sources. Establishing standard operating procedures for quality assurance and control for all products developed.
  4. Managing the development and maintenance of Office-level style guidance for all ITSO deliverables. Providing oversight for any security communications materials developed.
  5. Managing content creation that support ad hoc requests for brochures, posters, web pages, dashboards, presentations, etc. Serving as subject matter expert with working knowledge of diverse communications techniques and methods to ensure the successful creation, delivery, and use of communications materials.
  6. Developing new relationships and enhance existent collaboration efforts with IT security professionals within ITSO and across the judiciary.
  7. Identifying and effectively communicating and building awareness of emerging and trending cyber themes, ITSO lines of effort and AO strategic direction.
  8. Translating technical concepts into consumable calls to action.
  9. Developing, managing, and delivering reports on IT security activities and findings, including the conveyance of technical content to both technical and non-technical senior leaders.
  10. Creating, delivering, and tailoring IT security information to meet the diverse needs of the intended audience (which includes technical, non-technical, management, and support personnel).
  11. Developing and maintaining judiciary and AO cyber policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures. Responding to questions from stakeholders on current judiciary and AO policy concerning IT security, as well as questions regarding ITSO-defined security best practice.
  12. Tracking and managing various cybersecurity initiatives and projects within ITSO, and ITSO supported national programs.
  13. Planning, programming, budgeting and executing cybersecurity funds supporting IT security modernization, security training and communications, and information assurance and data security.
