Position Details: 

Grainger's Director, HR Technology Strategy, Data Governance & Payroll, leads the overall strategy for HR Technology globally, as well as North American payroll delivery and Data Governance. You will be responsible for the strategy, maintenance, design, development, and testing of the systems that support HR business processes, and high-quality execution of payroll and pay programs. In addition to strategy and execution, it is important for you to help us drive efficiency through continuous improvement. Seeking candidates who will demonstrate knowledge of current market trends and exhibit thought leadership, and the willingness to be hands-on with the work. 

 

This is a hybrid role in our Lake Forest, IL office. You will report to VP, HR Services, Technology, and Operations. 

You Will: 
  • Build the vision and strategy of the HR Technology and Payroll functions. 

  • Ensure systems and processes are effectively and efficiently operating to support business needs and ensures accurate and timely execution of all payroll-related activities. 

  • Up to date on relevant regulatory changes and laws, ensuring compliance through procedures and policies. 

  • Leads and/or participates in projects with the ability to drive decision-making and has strong problem resolution skills. 

  • Supports the ongoing performance and optimization of recently implemented systems, ensures seamless integration of new and existing systems, and business processes and procedures, including operational readiness. 

  • Develops strong, productive relationships with business partners. 

  • Effectively develops and leads a high performing team. 

You Have: 
  • 7+ years HR leadership, ideally across HRIS, Compliance, Strategy, and/or Payroll functions. 

  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to use data to drive decisions. 

  • Demonstrated ability to determine needs, identify solutions, obtain buy-in and support, and implement solutions. 

  • Leadership of projects with significant scope and impact. 

  • Experience leading through significant change. 

  • Experience with SAP/Success Factors.
