We’re looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our IT & Infrastructure team. Reporting to the VP, IT & Infrastructure, you’ll be administering and maintaining our production and non-production infrastructure.
A day in the life as a Systems Engineer:
- Administer and maintain our on-prem production and non-production IT infrastructure
- Administer and maintain production and non-production Cloud infrastructure
- Respond to monitoring alerts, determining root cause, and executing remediation
- Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance rotation
- Create documentation related to our networks and computing infrastructure
- Coordinate with Engineering to address issues with our code running on our infrastructure
- Coordinate with Security to ensure infrastructure meets security, risk, and compliance goals
- Research, recommend, and provision new equipment to meet the needs of the business
- Develop automation to improve productivity managing our infrastructure
- Identify monitoring needs and implement new/improved checks and notification mechanisms
- Implement new IT technologies and tools to meet business requirements
- Identity and access control management
- Oversee infrastructure utilization and capacity planning projects/tasks

- I have knowledge of linux, networking, and devops tools/techniques
- I gained my knowledge through 3+ years of direct, professional experience in a related role
- I have experience in the tech or SaaS industry and have exposure to production environments at a rapidly growing organization
- I have professional experience with virtualization (VMware preferred), IP networking, ethernet, and firewall administration
- I’ve worked for an organization subject to regulatory or compliance oversight
- I’m familiar with cloud technologies; bonus points if I’ve used AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, or Terraform
- I have a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- I am conscientious and take pride in my ownership of my job responsibilities
- I’m willing to occasionally travel and have a valid passport and no travel restrictions that limit my ability to cross the border between Canada and the USA
- I thrive in an agile environment that is constantly changing and encourages team members to collectively collaborate and communicate
- I love to be directly involved in projects and initiatives that offer continued learning and endless opportunity to express my ideas and build my leadership skills
