JOB SUMMARY: The BTSM candidate we are looking for will need experience in effective soliciting, prospecting, and identifying corporate negotiated accounts to proactively nurture, develop and ultimately impact hotel revenues.  They have an in-depth understanding of market dynamics and are extremely proficient in market intelligence/production reports and use those tools to drive business growth. The salary range for the Business Travel Manager position is $75K - $90K. The lower end is for candidates with minimal experience, while the higher end is for those with 2-3 years or more of relevant experience. This range acknowledges varying levels of expertise and ensures competitive compensation for all candidates.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To place or retrieve files. Twisting: Frequently. Conversing with associates and guests, working on computer. Handling: Frequently. Typing, computer keyboard, papers, files, phone. Grasping: Frequently. Opening doors and drawers. Pushing/pulling: Occasionally. 20 lbs - chairs, file drawers, filing systems. Lifting/carrying: Occasionally. 10 lbs – binders Communication:  talking throughout the day, calling on customers and working with different departments. Traveling:  Occasion travel to industry tradeshows

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Full-time in the hotel’s onsite sales office; or traveling to meet clients is common.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:

Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed business travel goals through concentrated prospecting efforts.  Frequent outreach to clients by way of networking and hunting for opportunities. Use knowledge of market position, competitors, and key customers for producing and exceeding business transient revenue. Identifies and develops new revenue opportunities and effectively communicates sales strategy and pricing with a monthly presentation at Revenue meetings. Follow sales policies and procedures as developed in the annual Marketing Plan and contribute to the development and execution of the plan. Conduct outside sales calls to existing and new clients. Conduct site tours for potential clients and develop client entertainment opportunities such as FAM trips and receptions. Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings. Develop creative marketing techniques and event hosting opportunities. Achieve and exceed individual and team annual goals as established by the annual Marketing Plan. Periodically evaluate, assess, and revise the parameters of rooms merchandising program. Achieve budgeted revenues and expenses and maximize profitability related to the sales department. Maintain and correct procedures for credit control, financial transactions, and security of financial assets. Promptly respond to and resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.


MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1 or more years of experience required as a Business Travel Sales Manager with a proven track record of success.   Knowledge of tools such as Cvent/Lanyon, Hotelligence or Kalibri, Delphi FDC and proficiency in property management software. Provide input to the General Manager, Revenue Team and Director of Sales & Marketing for the monthly negotiated segment forecast with thoughtful guidance, competitive positioning and overall strategic vision to achieve desired performance. Review intelligence and productivity reports to identify strategic direction for each account to maximize revenues. Knowledgeable of local markets and competitive markets outside the area and have existing contacts within the Silicon Valley/SF Bay Area market. Create new customer relationships and comfortable working with different levels of executives. Be a strong contributor to the overall Sales team, be willing to assist in other areas in the Sales Department. Bachelor’s degree is a plus, education and relevant training and experience required. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all hotel departments and functions with a strong reservation booking background. Excellent written, spoken, and public speaking. Additional language ability, a plus. Be fully knowledgeable of the capabilities and confines of the hotel and departments that may impact sales strategies. Must have exceptional mathematical and computer skills. Ability to timely obtain any required licenses or certificates. Occasional travel required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends, as needed.
