Georgia Advancing Communities Together, Inc. (Georgia ACT) is a statewide membership organization, which represents the state’s nonprofit housing and community development organizations. Our mission is to build and support a statewide network of thriving member organizations and trained professionals engaged in housing and community development serving families with limited housing choices. The Operations Manager will ensure that Georgia ACT’s day-to-day activities run smoothly in pursuit of its mission. The Operations Manager is responsible for technology, human resources, administration, compliance, and org-wide planning, supporting and interacting with every aspect (Board of Directors, Donors, Members, Partners, etc.) within Georgia ACT. The Operations Manager will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement systems that promote organizational growth and sustainability over the next several years.

The Operations Manager will help to drive interconnectedness across the organization by connecting the Board, staff, donors, members, partners, and volunteers and others with support/technical assistance, designing and ensuring progress against donor deliverables and the strategic plan/action plan, co-leading the annual planning process, membership meeting, events, and conferences, which tie Georgia ACT’s mission to its resourcing, and more.

The Operations Manager will organize and oversee the daily operations of Georgia ACT. The Operations Manager will be the one to ensure that Georgia ACT is well coordinated and productive by managing its procedures and coaching its staff, members, and partners. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various agency processes. The ideal candidate must be competent and able to plan many different kinds of operational activities. He/She must be an excellent leader who can discover the most efficient ways to run the agency. The goal is to safeguard and augment the efficiency of Georgia ACT’s operations to facilitate accelerating development and long-term success.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Administration and Operations

Serve as an advisor to the CEO as well as support her in the execution of programs and activities Develop member-wide communications and assist the CEO with management of the organization, responsibilities, and capacity planning Assist the CEO and Board of Directors with the annual organizational planning process, membership meeting, Fall Conference, Housing Day at the Capitol and other events, developing materials that will aid in linking Georgia ACT’s priorities, donor deliverables, and budget setting for the attainment of annual goals Assess and address Georgia ACT’s facility needs for events, including liaising with Georgia Hill Neighborhood Center Building Manager and external facility contacts to ensure space is available and appropriate for its particular use Create internal processes that improve Georgia ACT’s time and monetary efficiency (e.g. internal communications, financial reporting systems, etc.) Build partnerships that enable improved administration Liaise with the CEO, Board of Directors, and consultants to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of Georgia ACT to ensure smooth progress Evaluate regularly the efficiency of agency procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements Evaluate overall performance of Georgia ACT activities by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics

Human Capital

May supervise subordinate staff and provide constructive feedback Assist the CEO in managing/coaching temporary, interns, and other staff Assist in interviewing and vetting interns and other staff Help design organizational/member-wide training and development opportunities Prepare for anticipated agency talent, threats and opportunities May attend local, state, and national meetings on behalf of Georgia ACT

Risk and Financial Management

Serve as internal ‘check and balance’ for accounting responsibilities, financial projections and expense tracking Research grant opportunities and lead and/or assist in grant writing activities to ensure long-term sustainability of Georgia ACT Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation Assist the CEO and Executive Committee in reviewing financial information and assist the CEO in adjusting operational budgets to promote profitability Assist the CEO to ensure that Georgia ACT runs with legality and conformity to established local, state, and federal regulations

Member Services

Oversee Member support processes and organize them to enhance Member satisfaction Manage relationships/agreements with external funders/sponsors/partners/vendors Evaluate Georgia ACT performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics from conferences, membership meetings, events, etc.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

Excel at driving toward operational efficiency  Results oriented Exceedingly high attention to detail Self-starter and work independently High degree of focus Comfortable managing small teams and gaining buy-in from diverse groups Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, WordPress, Social Media, Google Forms, and various business-related software, etc. Working knowledge of nonprofit’s legal rules and guidelines Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics Excellent organizational and leadership abilities Outstanding communication and people skills At least five years of related work experience BS/BA in business administration or relevant field Some overnight travel and evening or weekend work required
