How is this Role Important to Our Work?

The Compensation Consultant - Sales Compensation will play a critical role on Blue Cross's Compensation team. In partnership with the Compensation Manager and other leadership, the individual will be primarily accountable for the organization's sales compensation programs including the administration, governance and annual design process. The position will also provide consulting to business leaders and HR partners on compensation topics to ensure alignment with business strategy and help support the ongoing administration of the organization's broader annual compensation programs.

A Day in the Life:

  • Primarily supports the design, development and administration of the organization's sales compensation programs.

  • Leads the sales incentive compensation design and governance process, partnering with sales leaders, HR partners, Finance, sales operations and data and analytics to ensure plan effectiveness and proper governance.

  • Administers the sales incentive plan, including the quarterly payout and statement process, communications, plan documentation, governance and response to inquiries from sales associates.

  • Own the sales incentive software application used for calculation of payouts and reporting, working with data and analytics to ensure the application supports the needs of the business.

  • Partners with business leaders and HR business partners to ensure compensation programs meet various business segment needs and are well understood by leaders and associates.

  • Leads compensation projects and initiatives.

  • Supports annual year-end enterprise compensation planning process, covering merit increase recommendations, annual bonus calculations, and long-term incentive awards.

  • Collaborates with other departments in developing and enhancing compensation-related procedures and processes, manager and employee communications, accurate and timely reporting, and governance oversight.

  • Helps develop compensation skills of other members of the HR team.

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, CSCP).

  • Prior health insurance / healthcare experience.

  • Experience with Workday.

  • Experience with Salesforce.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferrable skills, and military experience will be considered.

  • Experience with sales incentive compensation administration and/or design.

  • Strong technical background with the ability to analyze data, prepare reports based on data analysis and utilize software applications.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues.

  • Ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and foster trust in handling confidential situations.
