o Prolonged standing, frequent lifting of parts and materials weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance of lifting devices or other workers is requiredSubject to eyestrain when using black lighto Both hands and good eyesight requiredWork requires stooping, bending, reaching, stretching, and climbing in, on, or through aircraft with equipmento This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions Qualifications Conditions Of Employment Continue This position is emergency-essentialIn the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper authorityThe incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercisesThis position cannot be vacated during national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectivelyThis meets the criteria of an Emergency-Essential position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated alternate, be removed from any military recall statusEmployee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employmentAs a condition of employment the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 410 CERTIFICATION Level 2 in all disciplines pertaining to Hickam AFB, HI within 12 months of assignment to these dutiesFailure to receive the proper NAS 410 certification may result in removal from this position
Qualifications:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3700 Metal Processing FamilyAlthough a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applyingQualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of timeThe screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-3705 NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER without more than normal supervisionJOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1Knowledge of the full range of ultrasonic-eddy current, and/or radiography, and magnetic particle-liquid penetrant methods of nondestructive testing2Knowledge of the various shapes, sizes, and density of flaw indications in parts being tested3Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures4Skill to use ultrasonic, eddy-current, and/or radiographic, and magnetic particle-liquid penetrant processes and set up and operate equipment to examine a variety of parts, components, or material to detect hidden subsurface flaws, corrosion and separation in bonded and honeycomb structures; integrity of welds; precision dimensional and volume measurements; hardness of materials; and interpret test results to determine if items are acceptable, repairable, or should be rejected5Ability to read and interpret quality control directives, engineering drawings, NDI literature, and technical orders concerning nondestructive testing methods and procedures; make repairs and adjustments to equipment and instruments; and replace electrical-electronic components and batteries6Ability to document actions and maintain records manually or on a computer terminalPhysical Effort Prolonged standing, frequent lifting of parts and materials weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance of lifting devices or other workers is requiredSubject to eyestrain when using black lightBoth hands and good eyesight requiredWork requires stooping, bending, reaching, stretching, and climbing in, on, or through aircraft with equipmentWorking Conditions Works inside shop and in areas adjacent to or removed from the shopExposed to oils and processing solutions, which may cause dermatitis or allergySubject to possible radiation damage of body tissuesWears radiation monitoring devices, standard safety equipment, and protective clothingPART-TIME OR UNPAID
