Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor leads the Assembly Department at Belanger with employees working on assembly machines. This position is responsible for achieving, or exceeding, key metrics in the department including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, drive process improvement, and also be willing to “roll up his or her sleeves” to assist the team as needed. This is a first shift position, M-F with daily OT and Saturdays as needed to meet customer demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety – Lead safety in the department by following safety rules and programs. Seek and eliminate any safety risks. Hold others accountable to safety expectations.
  • Quality – Meet or exceed internal and external quality metrics. Use LEAN/CI tools to identify and eliminate root causes for any defects.
  • Delivery – Lead team to ensure orders are completed on schedule.
  • Inventory – Maintain accurate inventory placement and tracking.
  • Productivity – Execute cost saving initiatives and motivate team to hit output goals. Participate in Kaizen events.
  • Team Management – Drive team engagement through excellent leadership including, but not limited to:
    • Setting clear objectives for the team through daily huddle board meetings and other communication avenues
    • Listening to and understand challenges
    • Providing tools and support needed
  • Collaboratively work with the planning and sourcing teams to resolve issues on materials/tooling
  • Develop and implement standard work procedures to improve overall department productivity
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to keep machines, tools, jigs, and fixtures in good working condition to maximize “up-time“
  • Confers and collaborates with other supervisors to ensure seamless communication and effective transition of products and activities
  • Direct oversight of assembly operations.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality controls
  • Follow all company rules and policies
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2+ years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and prints
  • CNC machining and programming experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience in ERP Systems
  • Strong communication skills, delivering thoughts and ideas clearly written and verbally
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations
  • Knowledge of assembly, tooling, fixturing, speeds & feeds
  • Familiar with inspection and test gauges including calipers / micrometers.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

 

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with CI/LEAN tools and concepts
  • Good understanding of ISO including the requirements of following ISO documentation and processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Working knowledge of Gibbs-Cam
