The Supervisor of the Athletic Trainer Program is responsible day-to-day operations of the Athletic Training Program for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. The Supervisor supports the mission, vision, goals, and strategic objectives of LPCH and the Athletic Training Program serving the best interests of our patients. Interfaces between our community partners and the COC sports medicine team, this would include: in-office clinical/surgical support, phone consultation, community outreach, and sideline care, and promoting the Athletic Training Program as a community leader.

  • Performs supervisory functions by interviewing, selecting, and providing training for new staff; by approving or disapproving recommendations from subordinate staff on personal actions; by supporting manager with interviewing and selecting new staff, by overseeing Athletic Training team appraisals, regularly meeting with AT staff 1:1, by evaluation subordinates' performance; by hearing and resolving employee grievance; and by determining the need for and initiating disciplinary action in order to ensure adequate and competent staffing for the agency, program, division, or institution.

  • Meets the needs of patients and community partners, specifically thrive in providing the best care possible to the pediatric/adolescent athlete Liaison to School/Club sports/Sports leagues.

  • Provides athletic training services with affiliated high schools and Young Athletes Academy partners with the goals of injury prevention, performance maximization, and safe return to play.

  • Establishes and maintains community relations and provides educational programs/resources for coaches and community members. Participates in event coordination of medical care and supply provision.

  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of AT Program ensuring community needs are met, provides support to Manager with regards to approving YAA partners using decision matrix, and provides oversight over outreach schedule for Sports Medicine Program.

  • Responsible for day to day operations including; approval and denial of time-off requests, distributing and designating projects to AT team in alignment with Sports Medicine Program needs, monitoring progress and work flow of AT¿s checking for timeliness, accuracy and completeness of work, providing oversight with daily coordination of AT clinic coverage, and daily schedules of Athletic Training Team

  • As it relates to outreach, conducts market, financial, demographic, and clinical utilization of YAA partners, research from primary and secondary sources, interprets the data and provides insight.

  • Supports development and implementation of marketing strategies in regards to evaluating viable product lines and new business opportunities

  • Provides assistance as needed with Athletic Training Program budgeting.

  • Provides support as it relates to Sports Medicine Program development by; assisting in communicating with the larger sports medicine team, including physicians, APP's, research assistants, etc., supporting use of Healthy Roster with the entire AT team, assisting with development and execution of expansion efforts, regularly evaluating the quality of the program and offering/implementing improvements as needed, by assisting with developing detailed work plans, assisting in preparation of strategic and analytical data presentations in support of periodic reporting of strategic performance, assists with monthly sports medicine meetings, bi-annual Sports Medicine Retreat, and Annual and Quarterly Sports CME events.

  • Performs initial screens. Reports patients' concerns and symptoms, reactions, changes (appropriate to age) to licensed clinic personnel.

  • Assists with therapeutic treatment, including but not limited to, taping, wrapping and bracing for preventative and protective treatment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

    Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

    Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

    License/Certification: (CAT) BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $93,350.40 to $110,198.40
