Duties SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
purpose is to act as the crew chief with responsibility for directing the total maintenance effort on individually assigned aircraftThe work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi-engine transports to the most modern sophisticated fighters and bombersFully responsible for providing detailed technical insight on individual aircraft's level of Mission Capability (MC), then develops and recommends a comprehensive course of action to maintain the aircraft at Full Mission Capability (FMC)All aircraft are fully integrated in and are part of the Total Force Mission of the United States Air ForceThis position is responsible to fully prepare assigned aircraft for Aerospace Expeditionary Force/Wing (AEF/AEW) Operations around the world.o Directs, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more aircraft.o Ensures aircraft documentation and Maintenance Information Systems (MIS) accurately reflect the airworthiness of the Aircraft.o Performs in-process and final inspection of aircraft and components undergoing repair, overhaul and/or modification to verify and certify by signature adherence to work techniques, procedures and quality standards established by applicable publications.o Plans, develops and conducts training during the technician work week to a multi facet workforce comprised of from 3 to 8 assigned military positions.o Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises and Operations Other Than War (OOTW).o Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental and housekeeping regulations.o Performs other duties as assignedDetails of the duties and responsibilities are contained in the applicable position description (D1525000) which can be provided to you by HRORequirements Conditions of Employmento NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIREDIf you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.o This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.o Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.o Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.o Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.o Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.o May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.o Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.o Submit all documents/application NLT midnight Eastern Standard Time.o Must be in the grade of E5 and belowQualifications If your resume does not include a narrative description of how you meet the GENERAL, SPECIALIZED experiences, and OTHER requirements, you may lose consideration for this positionEnsure that the Questionnaire is completed on Application ManagerGENERAL EXPERIENCE :
Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specificationsMust be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipmentSPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :
In addition to journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10, must have at least 18 months of experience to include performing duties as a dedicated crew chiefOther positions may include responsibility for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workersSome positions may include coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraftOther positions may include serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraftPHYSICAL EFFORT :
Requires moderate physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positionsRoutinely required to objects weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally may lift and carry items weighing up to 50 poundsWORKING CONDITIONS :
Works indoors and outdoors in inclement weather on icy, wet, hot, and slippery ramps; aircraft surfaces, work stands, and ladders; and in temperature and humidity extremesSubject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, dust, dirt, grease, lubricants, points, solvents, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuating aircraft surfaces such as speed brakes, flaps, and landing gear; engine noise, heat blast, and intake suction; rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, etcFrequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, shock, strains and broken bonesMILITARY TECHNICIAN COMPATIBILITY POSITION:
Prior to placement in this position, the selected applicant must be assigned to an appropriate military position and must meet the definition of a dual status technician in accordance with 32 U S C 709CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES:
