  • Aircraft Subsystem Assembly and Component Removal and Installation: Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components, such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components.
  • Equipment Malfunction Diagnosis: Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions.
  • Equipment Restoration: Apply required expertise to restore equipment condition and operation.
  • Problem-Solving: Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation, such as aircraft technical manuals, maintenance information, blueprints, or manufacturers' manuals, and action messages.
  • Servicing and Lubrication: Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
  • Preparation for Inspections and Maintenance Checks: Safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
  • Scheduled Inspections and Special Inspections: Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
  • Operational Checks and Diagnostics: Perform limited maintenance operational checks and diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Use and perform operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Required three years of aviation maintenance experience, three years of rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS). All experience must be within the six most recent years.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts. Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair. Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory. Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools, such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
  • Leadership and Communication: The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from a supervisor or higher-level technician. Will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft-relevant tasks and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Workload Management: Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Participation in Maintenance Test Flights and Operational Checks: Participate in maintenance test flights and operational checks as required.
  • Inspection and Maintenance: Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by a mechanic. Required level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.
  • Knowledge of Military and Company Forms: Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.
  • Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
  • Physical Requirements: Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds. Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices. Work is performed in an Aircraft maintenance hangar that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Work could be performed outside as well. May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
