The Opportunity

This position is an onsite opportunity in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division. We are helping people with Diabetes lead healthier, happier lives.   As a global leader in diabetes care, Abbott is constantly working to deliver the highest quality products and unwavering support to our customers.  Consistent and accurate glucose monitoring is the foundation of any diabetes management plan, so weâre committed to continuous improvement in the way patients and professionals measure, track and analyze glucose levels.

As a Capital Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for developing the capital procurement strategy with analytics and data and executing through supplier management and cross functional collaboration. This role works closely with Operations and Engineering teams to strategically plan needs for automation and assembly equipment and is responsible for ensuring our commercial terms support the goals and objectives of the business. 

This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.

What Youâll Do

  • Build relationships with key suppliers and maintain regular leadership communications, serving as the main point of contact for all commercial discussions.
  • Develop and implement Capital strategy through analytics, data and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Negotiate commercially favorable terms (reduced cost, shorter lead times, improved quality).
  • Assist with overall program management to ensure Capital purchases are delivered per the agreements.
  • Develop an understanding of the Automation landscape, including top suppliers, best practices, largest customers and new technologies.

Education and Experience You'll Bring
Required

  • Bachelors Degree in related field  or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Masters Degree, MBA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of Experience
  • 5-8 year track record within procurement and supply chain management.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification desirable.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification desirable.
  • 5-8 years of Procurement and /or deep Category experience.
  • Some functional experience. Strong project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills International experience.
  • Some knowledge of markets by regions
  • Some experience with Supplier management.
  • Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.
  • Relevant business process knowledge, as related to Procurement and Category Management.
  • Deep knowledge of category technologies and products.
  • Strong negotiating skills Some experience leading teams.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30%, including internationally.

  • Understanding of Automation and assembly machines
  • Effective skills to build relationships and productively interface with all levels of the Business.

The base pay for this position is $125,700.00 â $251,500.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
