The Role:
Based at our new, start-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Marlborough, and reporting to the Site EHS Manager, the role offers a unique opportunity to build the sites EHS programs and culture from the ground up.
The EHS Sr. Associate will assist with cultivating a productive, healthy, and incident free workplace, working closely with managers and employees across all functions to ensure site activities are performed in accordance with established procedures and in compliance with applicable EHS laws/regulations, industry standards and best practices.
The EHS Sr. Associate will also provide facility support as required for general EHS tasks as directed by Environmental, Health and Safety Leadership.
Heres What Youll Do:
Environmental Health and Safety Activities:
Provide leadership and direction to employees for the purpose of improving EHS performance.
Assist with the development, implementation, and sustainment of Environmental, Health and Safety program (Hotwork, Confined Space Entry, LOTO, Work at, Height, Job Risk Assessments etc.)
Provide general environmental program support, including RCRA hazardous/universal waste, air and wastewater and recycling
Participate in daily manufacturing Tier meetings
Perform other EHS inspections as necessary, including emergency medical equipment, chemical and biological spill response supplies... etc.
Support and maintain the online SDS system
Assist with activities pertaining to life safety including involvement with fire drills, medical response drills, Sr. Leadership ICS drill and participate in the maintenance of emergency action plan etc.
Provide support to the sites emergency evacuation capabilities/Sweeper Warden team
Provide initial support to the sites emergency response capabilities on the campus Medical Emergency Responder Team (MERT)
Provide support of the TAKE 5 and S.L.A.M. EHS Cultural initiatives and activities
Assist in accident/incident investigations, and help coordinate corrective/preventative action measures to closure
Provide support maintaining the EHS accident, incident and proactive observation reporting database (Sphera)
Participate and support departmental Job Risk Assessment (JRA) activities.
Participate and support construction projects, contractor safety program and Safe Work Permitting (SWP)
Partner with all levels of management and perform independent EHS area audits
Support special EHS site events (EHS Fair, EHS Lunch & Learns, Flu Clinicsetc.)
Reviews, addresses, proposes and/or resolve health and safety concerns from all levels within the company
Assist with all aspects of regulatory permitting; including working with third party consultants and contractors to ensure monitoring requirements are met
Support other EHS projects, tasks and initiatives as determined by the EHS Leadership
Provide field support onsite during Commissioning/Qualification/Validation
Assist with implementation of EHS Management System
Coordinate and/or provide relevant EHS trainings
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
Bachelors Degree in Environment or Safety related science field, Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in EHS discipline related field/industry; Biotechnology Manufacturing and Laboratory EHS experience a plus
Must be willing to obtain/maintain OSHA general industry 30-hour and EPA RCRA & D.O.T 16-hour training and certification
Experience in GMP manufacturing, development laboratory and warehousing environment(s) preferred
Willingness to take on new responsibilities and learn new skills
Strong and effective interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
Well organized, detail oriented and capable of managing rapidly changing priorities
Computer skills: proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word

First aid training and skills a plus
Wastewater Operator Grade 1 License a plus
CHMM Certification Preferred/or willing to obtain CHMM Certification
Minimal travel required
This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Modernas site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
