Job Summary:

The role Sr Inventory Accounting Manager - Operations will be responsible for overseeing and managing inventory accounting tower overseeing physical and cycle inventories at clubs, B2B, Ecommerce and distribution center, shrink and salvage reporting. Additionally, provides estimates and trending on expenses related to shrink and salvage reporting working closely with forecasting teams to reflect in monthly financial plan. This is a key role to lead, operate, improve, and manage the teams working in a global environment (work with offshore teams in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) provider) and operational teams at the CSC -Marlborough and field.  The Sr Inventory Accounting Manager will also support strategic priorities and implementation of new and system enhancements impacting inventory control.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Head the day-to-day inventory accounting and leadership to teams both onshore and offshore.
  • Own service level metrics and service operations meeting timeliness and accuracy metrics
  • Lead the build of all service infrastructure and governance processes.
  • Lead, execute and support process improvements across people, process, and technology aspects.
  • Bring thought leadership and direction to inventory accounting functions with keen focus on end-to-end transformation, key controls, and loss prevention.
  • Bring inspiration and leadership to the delivery teams.
  • Partner with internal and external business partners
  • Support strategic priorities including new and system enhancements as the SME.

1. Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team professional, including team leaders, senior analysts, and analysts.
  • Set performance goals, provide direction, and offer mentorship to ensure the team's success.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment across both BJs team and BPO partner resources.
  • Ability to create a shared vision, motivated workforce who have a strong purpose is key to success in this role.

2. Process Oversight:

  • Supervise the end-to-end inventory accounting functions ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Implement and maintain standardized procedures and controls to streamline the inventory accounting  workflow.
  • Ensure a solid internal control environment.

3. Inventory Accounting

  • Coordinate, plans and oversees the weekly and monthly cycle, physical inventories at the clubs (full club count and perishable counts), DCs, B2B and Ecommerce buildings.
  • Ensure shrink rates are reviewed and updated on regular basis and provision is evaluated quarterly.
  • Provide guidance to merchants and operational teams on shrink and salvage trending and rates.
  • Ensure all accounting is done in a timely manner, reporting is produced accurately, and completed within closing deadlines.
  • Provide oversight of the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger, account reconciliation and compliance to internal controls. 
  • Work cross functionally with divisions including Operations, Merchandising, Asset Protection, Allocation and Planning teams on projects, processing and accounting.
  • Provides guidance with monthly estimates for shrink and salvage related adjustments to forecasting teams.
  • Manage and support implementing new systems and enhancements to achieve strategic priorities.
  • Develop, coach and manage a staff of team-members with diverse levels of experience and cross training.
  • Participate on various projects to implement new processes/systems and enhancements to existing processing consistent with corporate strategies.
  • Has overall responsibility for assigned accounting operations and systems as well as associated analysis and report preparation.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, controls, and industry standards.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to inventory and gross profit operations.

5. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track accounts payable performance.
  • Analyze data to provide insights for decision-making

6. Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance accounts payable processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implement automation and technology solutions to streamline processes
  • Analyze data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.

7. Stakeholder Communication:

  • Communicate with various stakeholders, including finance, operational teams, and senior management, to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Develop and influence the business on process transformation ideas.

Job Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of gross profit and inventory accounting experience including team leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting strongly preferred.
  • Corporate accounting experience required; CPA and Public Accounting experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Experience with SAP preferred or ERP financial systems and advanced reporting systems.
  • Retail industry experience a plus.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, project management and communication skills.
  • Organized, flexible, task-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in performance metrics and data analysis with focus on predictive analytics
  • Project management and process improvement experience including lean six sigma, RPA and automations
  • Strong team player with large team management experience in global delivery model
  • A desire to learn to operate in a shared services model

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Predictive analytics.
  • Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience in working in provider side (BPO industry) and client side (BJs)

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is starting from $122,500.00.
