Job Description

As a Senior Staff Hardware Architect, you will directly report to the Senior Manager of Hardware Architecture, working on projects that shape the hardware underpinning ServiceNow’s global cloud, with a focus on new technologies and systems. The systems you design, select, and help implement will allow ServiceNow to achieve its goals (both in the short and long-terms), and help define the vision of datacenter technology here at ServiceNow.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Drive hardware enhancements from original concept through final implementation across all system architectures and assess impact to performance and capacity.
  • Evaluate and test new products, frequently prior to general availability, identifying root cause issues through testing and making sound recommendations to resolve issues.
  • Work closely with multiple development teams to understand requirements and assist in optimization of software and OS layers for new hardware.
  • Identify novel technologies and architectures - and benchmark potential changes to prove your theories.
  • Effectively communicate the value of new and emerging platforms to the ServiceNow organization, internally.
  • Serve as top-tier escalation for complex hardware and OS issues.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years evaluating, cost-modeling, and implementing new datacenter technologies. This includes managing multi-vendor RFP’s, and working directly with vendors and their representatives.
  • 10+ years profiling and evaluating performance of physical Linux systems, from the application layer down to the hardware layer.
  • 5+ years in an operational role managing at least one geographically diverse datacenter environment.
  • 5+ years of cross-functional design and/or operational experience with high-performance storage, network, and server platforms.
  • Expert-level production-level Linux experience.
  • Familiarity with SAN, NAS, and distributed filesystem architectures. Ideally design and implementation of one or more.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex projects.
  • Excellent communication & customer skills, conflict management, and interpersonal skills required. Must be able to communicate at a level appropriate to the audience.
