About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems USA. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex mechanical systems and hardware for our defense and commercial electronics products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering teams in design, development, integration/test, and production of complex and dynamic military systems
  • Develop innovative and robust hardware solutions to meet demanding customer requirements
  • Perform detailed design and analyses, including generating 3D solid models, drawings, and documentation utilizing GD&T principles
  • Conduct thermal, structural/stress, and modal/vibration analyses, as well as assess designs against environmental requirements
  • Partner with other engineering disciplines and operations personnel to develop solutions that adhere to DTUPC, DFT, and DFM requirements
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience in the aero/defense industry, or a Master's Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Active (Eligible for) DOD Secret Clearance HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience in hardware architecting, product development, and support of complex DoD military electronics/avionics equipment
  • Proven technical leadership with mechanical projects from design through successful test
  • Solid fundamentals of mechanical design, analysis, and documentation principles
  • Experience with state-of-the-art mechanical engineering development software tools
  • Understanding of complex hardware manufacturing and test methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active (Eligible for) DOD Secret Clearance HIGHLY PREFERRED
  • Demonstrated design success - meet difficult design requirements
  • ANSYS Workbench/Mechanical, PTC Creo, MATLAB/Simulink, Siemens NX, ANSYS Icepak
  • Knowledge of MIL specs & standards, industry standards including ASTM, SAE, DO
  • Knowledge/experience with manufacturing, production, and sustainment of mechanical systems and hardware
