Job Overview

The Product Manager will have responsibility for the overall global marketing for Komatsu mining Truck product line (HD785 - 960E). The position will require substantial worldwide travel for meetings with our plant personnel, vendors, regional subsidiaries, distributors, and end-use customers. Annual budget to be approximately $1 million. Annual sales totaling approximately 200 units and $250 million, primary markets include 1-Australia, 2- Chile, 3-North America. Motivate, encourage and lead three (3) direct reporting staff toward a team approach to doing business and achieving goals. Sales and market share goals will be developed by the Product Manager, and approved by the Director Product Marketing & Planning Division VP/GM, and Office of the Chairman.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Provide high value technical sales support to worldwide Komatsu regional sales teams, global accounts teams, and distributors through day-to-day sales and marketing activities, product training, customer visits, competitive comparisons, job studies, and presentation to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Lead, coordinate, and execute new product introduction programs, including sales material, parts stock, advertising & promotion, competitive comparisons, training and sales support.
  • Lead the Product Planning effort to develop and implement strategic product development plans and all stages of new product development, according to market indicators to ensure ongoing product suitability, competitiveness and profitability.
  • Develop annual worldwide market analysis report and product action plans. Describing in detail the sales results, goals, profitability, global & regional market trends, competitors' actions, and priorities for prior and upcoming years.
  • Conduct machine and customer surveys to determine customer needs, trends, opportunities and competitive information. Develop appropriate action plans based on survey results.
  • Act as chairman of assigned "Product Team". Coordinate activities of manufacturing, engineering, parts, and service engineering as they relate to marketing and meeting customer needs.
  • Recommend changes, improvements, modifications or deletions in assigned product or products, based on regular analysis of market trends and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain highly effective sales tools for in-house training, distributor and customer presentations. To include brochures, specification sheets, product bulletins, marketing programs, communication plans and strategies video, trade shows, conventions, and Field Days.
  • Coordinate preparation and maintenance of marketing & advertising materials for assigned products. To include trade advertising, direct mail, public relations, internet and promotional kits, trade shows, conventions and Field Days.
  • Lead, encourage, and professionally develop assigned staff of product marketing managers, marketing managers.
  • Develop complimentary product knowledge and skills to be an effective member of the product management teams. (Enhances team capabilities through cross utilization).
Qualifications/Requirements
  • University degree (BS, BA) in engineering or business required. Advanced degree (MBA) beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in sales of marketing in the construction/mining industry, equipment supplier, or dealer min 10 years, with international assignment.
  • Strong leadership skills supported by superior communication and presentation skills, including computer proficiency (MS Office, application tools as required)
  • Strong ability to analyze complex technical situations, determines root cause, identify actions, and lead resolution and implementation.
  • Internal and outside sales/management training courses, industry experience.
  • Highly organized and efficient time manager, especially relating to optimizing travel and customer/product visits.
  • Knowledge and experience with the product development process, including new product development from concept to production.
  • Demonstrated human relations skills to lead, direct and motivate people.
