Your day to day 

As a Senior Design Researcher in our Innovation Strategy team, you’ll work in a studio environment to practice and bring thought leadership to design thinking – through inventive data gathering, deep analysis, and insightful recommendations.

This individual will lead and work closely with other researchers, product designers, engineers, and UX designers, as well as client teams to engage user populations (business or consumer based) in immersive studies aimed to inform creative problem-solving. With a passion for understanding people, their contexts, and determinants for behaviors and attitudes, you will lead novel and rigorous studies with diverse teams to elicit user goals, interpreting needs through mixed-method primary research. Leading and collaborating with project teams, you will define problems, characterize opportunities, visualize future scenarios, and help develop compelling products and services.

This role requires the ability to lead original programs including research design, project scoping, third-party suppliers, implementation, analysis, and delivery of meaningful outcomes through carefully crafted deliverables to project teams. Program goals range from investigating psycho-social phenomena to front-end exploratory studies, to helping set strategic design direction, to concept viability testing.

General Responsibilities:

·       Lead project teams through the human-centered design process (discovery, synthesis, ideation, design, and testing of new product and service concepts)

·       Involve and collaborate with customers along the innovation journey through field studies, workshops, and presentations

·       Identify research goals, develop study plans, protocols and test stimuli

·       Lead the development of research plans such as discussion guides, co-creation toolkits, workshop activities, etc.

·       Provide others direction on research tasks (recruitment, vendor negotiations, logistics)

·       Direct others and/or perform data gathering in dedicated facilities or contexts of use (from homes to hospitals to businesses)

·       Translate findings into goal-directed, value-driven insights

·       Lead and direct others organizing raw, incoming information for in-depth analysis

·       Lead the analysis and structuring of primary data to build descriptive frameworks

·       Develop recommendations among new, human-centered opportunities for business growth

·       Direct others to, and author, presentations: explanatory prose, verbal+visual frameworks; synthesis of findings

·       Comfort leading market intelligence discussions with client team stakeholders

·       Assure high-quality program deliverables, leading others to explore design implications

The Candidate:

·       You have a strong working knowledge of research methods supporting design thinking and people-centered innovation

·       You comfortably lead conversations among diverse, multi-functional teams and are confident planning and leading workshops

·       You easily navigate unstructured bodies of qualitative information, creating new tools where needed to see patterns and identify new questions among individual, social, enterprise, or commercial dynamics

·       You intuitively pursue complex questions, translating them into sophisticated learnings while striving for the narrative that simplifies new ideas

·       You consider customer experiences as omni-channel ecosystems: physical artifacts, environments, digital interactions, services, etc.

Your communication skills enable you to craft custom frameworks that are descriptive and/or generative
