Position Summary:

This individual will engage with and represent Conning and Insurance Research among clients, the media, and the broader industry. Responsible for understanding the full operations of the Insurance Research group, this individual will be expected to become an expert on all the product offerings within the department. This position will work closely with the analysts on the team to understand all research topics to be knowledgeable enough to answer incoming client questions.

This position is responsible for working with other business units within Conning such as finance and legal to implement contracts and invoices. This individual works closely on all client contracts and is responsible for working with current clients on renewals.

This individual will be responsible for managing the operations of the enterprise-wide research portal which includes pulling reports, uploading contacts, working closely with the vendors, and managing email lists.

In this role, it will be important to develop and maintain industry contacts as well as provide support to Conning asset management clients and business development initiatives as requested.

Essential Responsibilities:

Customer Service: 50%
  • Assist in client satisfaction and retention by providing strong customer service. Serves as first point of contact for all incoming client communications. Effectively manage Insurance Research and IR Marketing inboxes and voicemail to triage requests in a timely manner
  • Implements client renewals for library and subscribers, library contract, and invoices for clients includes coordination with legal and finance along with clients
  • Provide prospects with library demos and product demonstrations
  • Stay up to date on all research and product offerings to assist with client questions


Operations: 40%
  • Lead all initiatives and support for the Conning Library backend (posting, sales fulfillment, updating contacts, adding CRIs, and announcements of new publications)
  • Manage the invoices and contracts for IR vendors by regularly working with legal and accounting
  • Manage the publishing of materials to the Insurance Research webpages
  • Provide reports including regular client usage and financial metrics along with ad hoc reports
  • Assist with submitting projects to legal and compliance and working as a liaison between analysts


Business Development and Consulting: 15%
  • Assist with consulting project efforts and/or contracts
  • Provide support to meet sales and retention goals
  • Find effective ways to cross-sell products to existing customers


Marketing: 5%
  • Provide support to corporate marketing team as needed for Insurance Research initiatives


Ancillary Responsibilities:

Support and work with other areas within Conning including Asset Management, Business Development and Investment and Risk Solutions in client interaction and new prospect proposals as requested.

May supervise associate or senior associate analyst within Insurance Research.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Economics, or Finance.
  • 2-5 years of proven experience in related field including insurance company operations, actuarial functions, consulting, strategic planning / business development, investment banking, or equity/ credit research.
  • Moderate knowledge of insurance products and technology, distribution, customer service, and economic drivers shaping the business.
  • Moderate knowledge in several of the following areas: insurance marketing and distribution approaches, information technologies and analytical techniques, capital markets and valuation analysis, strategic planning, market research, and competitive analysis.
  • Moderate writing and analytical skills - ability to synthesize, develop and articulate critical conclusions from broad research and source information including insurance financial information.
  • Moderate understanding of insurance company statutory and GAAP financial statements and reporting principles, and an understanding of actuarial topics.
  • Moderate understanding of spreadsheet applications to analyze industry and company specific data.
  • Dedication to continuing education, such as earning industry certifications.
  • 0-5% travel, mainly to the US.
  • A background in customer service is a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Moderate presentation skills

Work product is subject to peer review as well as review by manager and Head of Insurance Research.

This position is an "office job". Most of the time is spent sitting and working with a PC and telephone. Lifting and moving small file boxes may periodically occur.
