Duties

The Supervisory Realty Specialist is responsible for serving as Smithsonian's leading expert in real estate. Works with the Deputy and Undersecretary for Finance and Administration to ensure that necessary resources are available to handle the real estate workload and that teams established to work an issue involving real estate have adequate technical support.

In this position, you will:
Serves as the primary advisor and recognized technical expert in real estate matters. Evaluates and oversees the successful and timely accomplishment of all technical work assigned to the team and ensures that quality standards are met. Conceives, plans, coordinates, and conducts original and pioneering work of Smithsonian-wide scope. Produces reports, reviews, and assessments to prove or disprove the feasibility of new or altered techniques, procedures, plans, and management systems pertaining to real estate. Leads the preparation, review and coordination of special reports, studies, and analyses on real property management actions. Provides expert guidance in real property management as necessary to formulate Smithsonian policy guidelines and criteria. Exercises delegated managerial authority to set a series of annual, multiyear, or similar types of long-range work plans and schedules for in-service or contracted work. Assures implementation of the goals and objectives for OUSA Real Estate.

Qualifications

GS-15 Experience:You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Service. For this position Specialized experience is defined as professional expertise in real estate, design, construction, leasing, acquisitions, finance, and legal aspects of various property types and the related sub-specialties, including management principles and practices in conjunction with policies, regulations, and procedures on the required Real Estate inputs to programming, planning, acquisition, design, and construction to coordinate, develop, and provide authoritative interpretations of real estate requirements for operational programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
