DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager (PM III) to join our team. The successful candidate will be the Deputy Program Director for a multi-million-dollar IDIQ contract with multiple concurrent task orders. This position has high potential for quick advancement opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity that requires a manager with exceptional leadership, management and communication skills who can oversee the execution of a portfolio of technical projects performed by multi-disciplinary teams across various geographic locations.  The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Emergency Management and Response group of the Alexandria, Virginia office. As part of this group, the project manager will support contracts with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and may be asked to support other contracts as needs arise. 

For the right candidate, this position can be fully-remote.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinates closely with the Program Director to oversee and direct a large complex federal project. 
  • Develops and maintains client engagement to ensure satisfaction, acts as a strategic partner to clients.
  • Confers with contract leadership team to establish the strategic direction for the contract.
  • Provides technical advice to resolve problems; manages and coaches the team at an advanced level.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of multi-disciplinary staff to ensure project delivery per schedule, on budget, and within scope parameters.
  • Work with team members and clients to assemble and oversee teams that prepare scopes, schedules, budgets, assumptions, and constraints for projects.
  • Oversee adherence to project plans and established business processes, and project management and standards.
  • Proactively strategize and anticipate project risks and issues.
  • Maintain accountability for completeness and accuracy of project status reports and invoices.
  • Facilitate team building and professional develop and provide staff mentorship 
  • Cultivate and manage client relationships and guide application of services to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker International.
  • Support business development and proposal efforts. 
  • Maintain accountability for compliance with contract requirements, including quality and security requirements.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-year bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (engineering preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience working with FEMA’s Risk MAP Program (required). Including, demonstrated knowledge of FEMA’s Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) program, FEMA’s Guidelines and Standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping Activities Under the Risk MAP Program, and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, proactive communicator and problem-solver.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ownership and accountability for work.
  • Capability to work in a dynamic environment, including a demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of individuals from various backgrounds, including risk communication experts, engineers; planners; GIS professionals; federal, tribal, and state government officials; and the public.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget requirements, working with multi-disciplinary teams under limited supervision. 
  • Strong track record of overseeing successful project delivery with a drive for quality product and financial excellence.
  • Demonstrated supervisor and mentoring skills.
  • Ability and willingness to lead a matrixed team to meet program priorities.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products.
  • Solid work ethic and have the drive to be a leader in the company and in the professional community.

PREFERRED

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
  • Ability to travel periodically, as needed (less than 20%) 
  • Traditional and agile project management proficiency
  • Industry involvement (e.g. Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), Project Management Institute (PMI), etc.)

COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $132,324 to $206,676. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
