Lead Advanced Practice Provider

Advanced Practice Provider Cardiology opportunity to join established practice in Memorial City Area (Houston, Texas). Memorial Hermann Medical Group is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with specialized training in Cardiology for a Lead role @ our cardiology clinic in west Houston. The provider will provide clinical care, assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of cardiology patients to help meet the needs of a busy cardiology practice.
Responsible for supporting the Director of Advanced Practice Providers in providing leadership, develop workflows for service line team optimization, overseeing the daily operations, managing and developing service line staff, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care, ensuring the delivery of quality care to patients, and serving on APP and hospital committees/councils. Position responsible for 24/7 (as appropriate) support of the departments service lines.
Acute Care certification and ACLS certification are required.
- Licensed to practice professional nursing by the State of Texas
- Licensure by the State of Texas APRN and eligibility for full prescriptive authority by the State of Texas
- Certified by a recognized national certification by the State Board of Texas in area of population foci and/or additional specialty recognition beyond the APRN
- Eligibility for DEA licensure
- Basic Cardiac Life Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Certification
Minimum Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Nurse
Education: Masters required.
Licenses/Certifications:
Physician Assistant
Education: Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program; Masters required
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Inc.
- Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners
- Eligibility for DEA licensure
- Basic Cardiac Life Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Certification)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Minimum three to five (3-5) years as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Demonstration of clinical competence.
Demonstration of leadership and professional collaboration with multiple specialties.
Principal Accountabilities
- Service and Clinical Operations :
- Support clinical leadership/mentorship for Advanced Practice Providers.
- New APP orientation, education, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with Director to maintain or exceed expected monthly productivity.
- Monitor workflow and collaborate with APP Director and hospital staff in creating processes to improve and optimize high quality care delivery.
- Implement new clinical policies / procedures with clinical staff.
- Review charts as needed for audits and quality improvement.
- Prioritize resources for APPs and patient care issues.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote Quality Improvement processes and initiatives to meet quality goals.
- Facilitate and assist in running clinical staff meetings.
- Encourage and promote teamwork.
- Develop and nurture individual team member strengths and abilities.
- Structure planning for unexpected APP clinical absences, manage APP team schedule to ensure adequate coverage and help in disaster schedule planning.)
- Report staff concerns to Director during supervisor meetings.
- Evaluate APP staff clinical performance with Director.
- Leadership Duties :
- Conduct supervision meetings with APPs regularly.
- Promote productivity, identify strengths, and develop individualized improvement.
- Collaborate with Director regarding clinical physician supervision of APPs.
- Report APP practice deficiencies/complaints or clinical concerns to Director.
- Review appropriateness of documentation and communication regarding APPs practice.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring of new APPs in collaboration with Director.
- Report weekly time and vacation requests, illnesses, or PTO to Director.
- Contribute to the revision and approval of policies, protocols, and clinical guidelines.
- Attend meetings / conferences regarding clinical management or other topics that help promote clinical practice and leadership.
- Participate and lead quality improvement projects.
- Participate in continuing education activities that will enhance management and administrative knowledge and skills and contribute to professional growth and leadership abilities.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
