Position Overview:

The Regional EHS Director will lead the planning, development, and implementation of site and corporate EHS programs across the region to ensure workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship. This role focuses on mitigating risks and enhancing environmental and safety performance within chemical manufacturing settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess EHS risks and develop mitigation strategies for regional facilities, especially in chemical manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Site Management to create EHS&S programs based on corporate standards.
  • Oversee implementation of corporate programs for incident reporting, analysis, and resolution.
  • Manage region-wide safety training plans, including training needs assessment, program development, and tracking.
  • Support contractor safety management, new employee and visitor onboarding, and site safety meetings.
  • Lead and participate in EHS&S audits, ensuring timely closure of action items.
  • Assist sites with environmental permit compliance, including air, water, and waste regulations, audits, and regulatory reporting.
  • Facilitate Emergency Preparedness and Response drills and manage the Change Management Process, assessing EHS impacts of proposed changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in EHS systems, maintain safety performance metrics, and develop proactive improvement plans based on leading and lagging indicators.
  • Act as site liaison for 2nd and 3rd party audits (PSM, Injury/Illness, Environmental, etc.) and manage follow-up on findings.
  • Provide strategic EHS leadership and oversee compliance with Responsible Care Management Systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of EHS experience, with preference for chemical manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, environmental regulations, and compliance standards in chemical manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with safety management software and Google Suite.
  • Relevant certifications (CSP, CIH, etc.) and experience with process safety and hazardous materials management are highly valued.
