Guardian Security is looking for a Payroll Staff Accountant to join our team Guardian Security was founded in 1976, and we have been serving the Pacific Northwest with their security and fire protection needs since then - for over 40 years We are locally owned and operated, with four offices located in Yakima, Tacoma, Bellingham, and in the SODO district of Seattle.


Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, M-F.

Pay: $30 - $33 per hour

Position Summary:

Responsible for assigned payroll and general accounting tasks including support on month-end closing, account reconciliation, and related reports. Provides support as needed to Accounting Teams.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Payroll Functions:

  • Be primary for processing of the entire Payroll cycle bi-weekly.
  • Calculate prevailing wages, variable compensation, and insurance withholdings.
  • Process and file garnishments, child support orders, certified payrolls, and other documents.
  • Allocate and post journal entries for payroll, insurance, taxes, wages, and other payroll entries.
  • File and pay insurance bills, payroll payments, and other related payments.
  • Coordinate with other teams to approve various sections of payroll.

Accounting Duties:

  • Prepare and review various GL account reconciliations.
  • Supports and assists other Accounting Teams as needed.
  • Coordinate with other teams to complete tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Education and/or Experience:

  • A post-secondary degree in Accounting is preferred, but a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in payroll and filing Certified Payroll for WA L&I is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in General Accounting is required.


Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

  • None required.


Computer Skills:

  • Intermediate or higher proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Products is required.
  • Intermediate or higher technical skills when using computers are required.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This Job is 99% sedentary and it uses fingers, hands, arms when working with mouse, keyboard, monitors. Close vision and distance vision are necessary. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally will lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
