Role Description
This is a full-time non-exempt on-site role for a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Berenson Cancer Center in Los Angeles, CA. The Medical Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, analyzing samples, performing quality control procedures, and ensuring accurate and timely results for patient care.
Qualifications
- Medical Technology and Laboratory Skills proficiency
- MUST have a current medical laboratory technologist or clinical laboratory scientist license in the state of California
.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory running moderate and high complexity tests
- Knowledge of Medicine and healthcare protocols
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sample analysis
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Relevant certification or licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in the State of California
- Associate Degree
- Physical requirements: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
Responsibilities
• Perform tests of moderate and high complexity. Examples being CBCs, comprehensive metabolic panels, electrophoresis tests, urinalysis, and related complexity tests.
· Collect and process specimens like blood, urine, and tissues for analysis.
• Ensure high quality accuracy through routine equipment checks and data analysis.
· Calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment daily.
· Report test results and collaborate with clinic team
· Follow protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards and requirements. (CLIA, Cola, and state licenses)
· Maintain lab supplies and complete orders
· Maintain and complete refrigeration humidity and temperature logs daily
· Research lab supply ordering and cost best practices. Recommends procurement of new laboratory equipment and monitors maintenance/repair needs of existing equipment.
· Troubleshoot lab equipment issues and escalate timely and appropriately
· Complete recertification requirements as needed
· Displays flexibility to cover the lab in emergencies and difficult staffing situations
· Adhere to clinic policies and procedures
· Identifies and corrects problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Adheres to, performs and documents all calibration, maintenance and quality control as required according to the laboratory policies and procedures.
· Assist with clinic projects that require position specific knowledge and licensure
• Cooperate and collaborate with counterpart hospitals and other institutions for exchange of samples and information.
• Maintain records for federal, state and appropriate license accreditation. Monitors adherence to safety regulations.
• Complete surveys, statistical reports, studies, and research projects.
• Train or supervise up to one employee if needed
